I hope this blog will become a discussion area for anyone who has questions, ideas, or anything they would like to share about cake decorating and how it can be made easier. I know being a beginner, many times in trying to do someting on a cake, there is always an easier way. I welcome suggestions!
woww¬!!!!!ITS REAlly awesomee....can i please know how you did the white ribbon for the gift cake.please..I REALLY LOVE THISSSS
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! The ribbon is fondant and takes several days to complete. Unfortunately, it's not one of those things you can decide "Hey tonight I think I'll make a fondant bow!" :) First you cut your fondant into 10-15 (dependant on bow size)strips about 7-10" long (width will depend on the size bow you want), then you shape each strip into a loop and what I do is twist the ends together, that way I have something to connect them; let these dry a night or two. If you have streamers, you will want to go ahead and cut and drape over a rounded shaped so that they will dry in that position. When you get ready to assemble the bow, I usually use a small bowl for this, melt white chocolate to use as the "glue". First put a good-sized puddle of melted chocolate and then start placing your ribbon curls for your bottom layer. Put some more chocolate over those ends and the next layer of curls will alternate in between the bottom layer. I usually do three layers and then one that comes up out of the middle (again adding the melted chocolate each time as the binder. This is where the bowl comes in handy because it will keep the shape of your bow as it hardens. I will tell you I always make extra loops in the event one breaks, etc. Good luck!
